Paul Scholes picks player Tottenham sold for £30m in his ultimate XI alongside the likes of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo
Tottenham Hotspur have had their fair share of legends and cult heroes over the decades.
From the icons of yesteryear like Jimmy Greaves and Dave Mackay to contemporary stars like Gareth Bale and Harry Kane, Tottenham fans have been spoilt for choice.
And with Tottenham winning the Europa League this year, no doubt a fair few of the current squad will be remembered for years to come.
Now, Manchester United and England legend Paul Scholes has selected a player who shone for Spurs just over a decade ago in his ultimate XI.

Paul Scholes names Tottenham cult hero Luka Modric in his ultimate XI
Scholes was asked by the Daily Mail which players he would name in his all-time XI.
The Old Trafford icon went with players from his generation, and some absolute stars were on show.
Scholes’ back line was almost entirely composed of former Man United teammates.
Peter Schmeichel was in goal, while Jaap Stam and Rio Ferdinand were at centre-back, and Gary Neville was named at right-back.
Roberto Carlos, who played for Real Madrid in his prime, was at left-back.
Then, in midfield, Scholes selected Tottenham cult hero Luka Modric alongside Toni Kroos at centre-mid.
Ronaldinho was named on the left flank, with Zinedine Zidane on the right wing.
Finally, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi were named as the front two.
What Luka Modric thinks of Tottenham
Modric joined Tottenham in 2008, arriving from Dinamo Zagreb for around £15million.
Four years, 160 appearances and 41 goal contributions later, he was on the move to Real Madrid for around £30million.
Modric went from a superb midfielder to one of the greatest players in history at the Bernabeu.
Modric still has time for Tottenham and looks back on his time at N17 fondly, telling last year: “Coming to Tottenham was the right decision.
“If I could have written the script for how my career would develop, I couldn’t have written it better than how everything has turned out.
“When you leave the Premier League, you don’t just stop following it. So, I follow the league, especially the teams with Croatian players.
“And, of course, I still follow Tottenham.”
However, Modric previously criticised Daniel Levy for how he went about the player’s transfer from Spurs.
