Man United fans left absolutely fuming after hearing Man City want to sign their ‘incredible’ target

Unless Manchester United back Ruben Amorim in the summer transfer window, it seems highly unlikely that the Red Devils will kick on whatsoever next season after enduring their most disappointing campaign in decades.

Amorim is set to stay at Manchester United and considering Patrick Dorgu is the only player who has been signed under his reign, the Portuguese tactician will be hoping that more fresh faces are brought in during the summer.

Rayan Cherki has caught Manchester United’s eye as he is a player who would fit into the former Sporting CP boss’ system to play as one of the two attacking midfielders behind the striker.

However, Manchester City rate the Lyon attacker highly as well and are considering signing him in the summer — as per journalist Mike McGrath.

However, Manchester United fans are not unhappy at all after seeing that City are ramping up their efforts to sign Cherki.

Man United fans not happy about Man City eyeing Rayan Cherki

One Manchester United fan expressed his disappointment about Manchester City’s pursuit of Cherki by writing: “I’m doomed to spend the rest of my life watching my favourite players join my biggest rivals.”

Another supporter feared that the Frenchman could now sign for Manchester City and urged United to “wake up”: “I hope United wakes up. Unless you have another better option for a better price and knowing Cherki’s age you’re not going to give him away to City.”

A third Manchester United fan urged co-owners INEOS not to let Manchester City get their hands on Cherki, who Jorge Masiel called “incredible” : “INEOS, if you get this guy, I know you are serious. We can’t let City take this guy, genuine world-class potential.”

A fourth supporter added: “How is this happening? And we are crying for a number 10? If Cherki goes to City, the reality is there is no rebuild at Manchester United. You’re only deceiving the fans.”

A fifth fan was fuming about the news as well, while claiming that Manchester United trying to sign Liam Delap shows how far they have fallen: “City for Cherki? And we are begging Delap. Finished.”

Finally, a sixth Manchester United fan was upset about the fact that despite Manchester City having an underwhelming season, they are making moves for players of Cherki’s calibre, which shows the gap between both clubs is getting bigger: “City who had one of their worst seasons in years (still finished third) are after Cherki, [Tijjani] Reijnders, [Rayan] Ait-Nouri. Manchester United who have just finished 15th are still waiting to hear back from our priority striker target who has just been relegated from Ipswich. We’re absolutely finished. The gap’s just getting bigger and bigger.”

It’s safe to say that the decision-makers at Old Trafford have a lot of making up to do this summer, especially if the 21-year-old ends up at the Etihad Stadium.

Man United have held talks to sign £41 million Cherki alternative

Manchester United target Cherki confirmed he will leave Lyon and considering Manchester City have qualified for Champions League football, they could very well secure his services.

Arsenal and Tottenham were eyeing Cherki as well and both clubs could have the upper hand on United as they could offer him the chance to play in Europe’s elite competition as well.

However, United must be looking at alternatives to the youngster behind the scenes.

One of them is Franco Mastantuno, who Manchester United have held talks with to sign.

Mastantuno has a release clause of £41 million and whether United feel the Argentine is worth such an outlay considering he is just 17 remains to be seen.
